Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
On a teal green vertical rectangle arched convexly at each end, three yellow arrows in the center, one vertical and two diagonally crossed, left and right, all between two yellow vertical lightning flashes edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border. The overall dimension is 2 1/8 inches (5.40 cm) in width by 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) in length.
Teal blue is the color traditionally used by branch unassigned units. The lightning flashes signify speed and power. The arrows signify unit readiness. The combination of the arrows and lightning flashes illustrate the electronic signals used to transmit information.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 30 June 2005. (TIOH Drawing Number A-1-877)
Distinctive Unit Insignia
A gold color metal and black six-sided enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in width consisting of a teal blue globe issuing from the base of the device surmounted by a dagger point up between two stylized ground communication satellite stations each emitting a lightning flash upward towards a polestar, all gold. Attached below is a black scroll inscribed "SOLDIERS MEDIA CENTER" in gold.
The hexagon is used in technology to symbolize electricity. The globe represents the worldwide reach of the Soldiers Media Center to distribute military information. The stylized satellites and polestar allude to the input/output of this information by radio, television, computer or telephone, the mission of the Soldiers Media Center. The dagger adapted from the Public Affairs insignia, symbolizes operational readiness and establishment of "esprit de corps" and to keeping the service members well informed.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 June 2005.
